    What is Sermorelin?

    Sermorelin (GHRH 1-29 NH2) is a synthetic 29-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the N-terminal fragment of endogenous growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-44). The first 29 amino acids contain the full active site needed for GHRH receptor binding.

    It was the first GHRH analog to receive FDA approval (as Geref) for diagnostic and pediatric growth-hormone-deficiency use, though it has since been discontinued from the commercial market in that form.

    Mechanism of action

    Sermorelin binds the GHRH receptor (GHRHR) on pituitary somatotropes, raises intracellular cAMP, and stimulates pulsatile GH transcription and release. Downstream, this raises hepatic IGF-1.
